Vonne Baker Receives Farm Bureau Outstanding Educator Award

Vonne Baker (center) of Dorchester County receives the 2005 Betty J. DeWitt Outstanding Educator Award from Frances Price (left), SC Farm Bureau Women's Committee Chair, during ceremonies at the organization's 62nd Annual Meeting held recently in Myrtle Beach.

Baker, a second grade teacher at Dorchester Academy in St. George, received a $500 cash award compliments of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.

The award is presented annually to an outstanding teacher of grades kindergarten through 8th grade who has designed and implemented a lesson or project about the food and fiber industry within the last school year. It also commemorates the service and dedication of former SCFB Women’s Committee Chair Betty J. DeWitt of Darlington County (pictured at right).

South Carolina Farm Bureau is a membership organization that works to promote agriculture and rural lifestyles throughout the state.
