Haddon Wins Farm Bureau
Young Farmer Discussion Meet

Lee Haddon of Fairfield County (right) receives a plaque and the keys to a John Deere Gator from David Winkles, President of the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation, for being named the winner of the 2005 SC Farm Bureau Young Farmer Discussion Meet. The ATV Gator was presented as the grand prize compliments of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.

Winkles (left) also presented Haddon with $500 cash from the Dodge Division of DaimlerChrysler Motors and an expense paid trip to Nashville, TN, in January 2006 to participate in the American Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Discussion Meet.
The SCFB Young Farmer and Rancher Discussion Meet, held recently during the SC Farm Bureau Federation's 62nd Annual Meeting in Myrtle Beach, gives participants an opportunity to analyze agricultural problems and suggest solutions.

The contest is an activity designed to build critical thinking skills in young farmers. Participants enhance their discussion skills, develop a keen understanding of important agricultural issues, and explore how groups can solve problems by building coalitions, sharing knowledge, and reaching a consensus.

South Carolina Farm Bureau is a membership organization that works to promote agriculture and rural lifestyles throughout the state.
