Women Attend State
Conference
Some 75 farm women from across the state attended the recent
South Carolina Farm Bureau Women's Conference in Columbia.
This year’s conference had a “Putting on the Ritz” theme.
Farm Bureau Women at county, state, and national levels
coordinate public relations activities and projects promoting
agriculture. Their work includes supporting important family
and agricultural legislation, youth programs, Education in AG-tion
activities, leadership development opportunities, and
commodity promotions.
According to Director of Women’s Programs Faith Lawrimore,
“Recent years have been quite challenging for many South
Carolina families earning their livelihood raising crops and
livestock. The SC Farm Bureau Women’s Committee has recognized
this and works hard to educate the public about farming. Their
dedication, knowledge and interest in agriculture contribute
much to the organization, as they work for the future success
of farming in our state.”
Workshops at this year’s conference highlighted leadership
development, legislative involvement, and Ag in the Classroom
advancements.
The SC Farm Bureau Federation is a non-profit organization
designed to promote the interests of agriculture in South
Carolina. There are more than 130,000 member families
statewide, with more than 35,000 of those directly involved in
South Carolina farming.
Persons interested in supporting the efforts of local farm
women can contact their county Farm Bureau for additional
information or go online at
